The authors wanted to understand the deficit between graduating seniors and industry professionals. They chose to do a comprehensive survey with various project managers who have had years of industry experience to gauge insight. Overall the research analysis indicates that the largest lack of experience is project experience (13 manages noted deficiencies) and oral communication (9 managers noted deficiencies). It might not be surprising that the more technical attributes, such as DBMS experience and coding where less of issues.
